Panasonic goes for the Pro Market with the New Lumix DMC-GH4

Micro 4/3rds moving on up to 4K with the new Panasonic GH-4!
The stunning launches in the Micro 4/3rds format continue with the new Panasonic GH-4.

Targeted at professionals, the GH-4 offers a new 16.05mp Sensor coupled with Venus Engine 9 for potentially the best image quality yet from the micro 4/3rds format.
Micro 4/3rds now boasts several models capable of top quality results and the range of lenses available is ever increasing and already includes some outstanding optics.
The GH-4 is also the first stills camera in the format to offer 4K video capture, shooting video at broadcast quality 200mb/s with 4:2:2 colour output, meeting broadcasters expectations (including the BBC).
The GH-4 also boasts a new auto focus system with DFD technology. DFD allows the camera to take two incredibly quick readings – one for the background and one for the foreground and then calculates the correct distance for ultra-fast and accurate auto focus.

A new 2,360k dot OLED Live viewfinders and 3.0” OLED free angle touch screen with 1040k dots make image composition and viewing a real pleasure.

The GH-4 is capable of 12 frames per second sequence shooting and is splash and dust proof.
All the Lumix G advantages appear on the GH-4 including Focus Peaking, silent shutter, fn button and touch pad AF.

The GH-4 is also fully compatible with a new wireless flash launched at the same time – the DMW-580c.

Park Cameras secured an exclusive preview of the new model and we have created a video introduction to the new GH-4 at the superb Panasonic area in our new London store.

The GH-4 comes in at the very top of the Panasonic range and does not replace the GH-3 which continues.

The GH-4 has exceptional build quality while still offering a compact and lightweight body. Controls fall easily to hand and the viewfinder offers an exception view for easy composition.

The 12fps burst rate compares well to the very top Professional DSLRs and it will be interesting to see how the new AF system works on fast moving subjects – something we will be exploring soon in our Park Camera Blog test.

Park cameras will be having in-store touch and try events for the GH-4 at both London and Burgess Hill and the Camera will be available in-store for you to try in our dedicated Panasonic areas in both London and Burgess Hill stores.

Park Cameras are accepting pre-orders on both GH-4 variants by telephone on 01444 23 70 70, or you can pre-order online here. The first deliveries are expected in Spring 2014 (which having looked out the window, could be a while away yet!)

Great conversation, very informative. May I ask if you know whether the GH3 battery and vertical grip will be compatible with the GH4. Thanks!
