Events to Photograph in and around London July 2014

A selection of events that we think have great potential to get your shutters clicking.
Please contact the organisers for full details of any of these events - most are free but some you need to buy tickets for in advance or on the day.





Until 19th July
The Rainforest Pavilion. Bedford Square WC1B
A 5 metre high pavilion creates an oasis in busy London. Visit this for photography then pop round the corner to Park cameras London store!



Until 6th July
Wimbledon Tennis. Church Road, SW19 5AE.
If you have tickets then photography is allowed. Otherwise queue for ground admission and you can shoot action on the outside courts and have the chance to buy tickets for the show courts later in the day as returned tickets are re-sold.

2nd July – 3rd August
Kopparberg Urban Forest. Abbot Street Car Park, E8 3DP.
A programme of live music and entertainment in this specially created urban forest in Dalston

2nd – 6th July
Henley Royal Regatta. Henley on Thames, RG9 2AQ
Running since 1839, Henley is the quintessential English occasion with action on the river equalled by the beautiful people on the bank. Great opportunities for candid and street photography as well as sports.

5th July
Park Cameras Photo Walk 6 – South Bank and Westminster.
Take a walk with Park Cameras around the South Bank and then Westminster. Get some great advice and help getting some shots of famous London Landmarks all for just £20. Book now at www.parkcameras.com/photowalks.


7th July
Tour de France
The Tour leaves Cambridge around mid-day passing through Chelmsford around 1.50om before moving to the Olympic Park at around 2.55 then arriving at the Mall around 3.30pm. Great chance to shoot the colour and action of a world class sporting event.

8th-13th July
Hampton Court Palace Flower show. East Molesey, KT8 9AU.
Great chance for colourful flower and macro shots. On the final afternoon, the exhibits are sold off so you could take some still life’s home to photograph at your leisure too.




11th July
Camden Lock Live. Camden Lock place, NW1 8AF.
A one-day festival of live music and street food in colourful Camden Lock – well worth a visit. Camden is a vibrant part of London with loads of photo opportunities so allow a full day here!




12th July
The Chap Olympiad. Bedford Square, WC1B5BL.
Unusual ‘Olympics’ with Umbrella jousting and tug of hair. Sure to be some colourful characters to photograph here!

12th + 13th July
Imperial War Museum, Duxford. Flying legends Airshow.
Possibly the best airshow in the county, Flying legends offers a mix of old and new aircraft and almost always the largest gathering of Spitfires of the year. Well worth a visit even if you only ever visit one Airshow.

13th July
Shuttlworth Close Up and Personal Airshow. Old Warden, SG18 9EP
Fantastic airshow for all the family to attend. Unique in parking historic aircraft right among the crowd so you can get up really close to give them a good looking over. Old Warden is fantastic for photography as the aircraft are never to far away and the light is helpful too. Stay late and hope the old Edwardian aircraft take to the skies around sunset.

13th July
The British 10k run. Hyde Park Corner Tube, SW1X7TA
Up to 30,000 runners including famous athletes and celebrities. Great chance for some sporting action on the streets of London.


14th July
Bastille Day Festival. Borough Market, SE1 1TL.
If you have never visited Borough Market – this would be a great day to visit. A free festival celebrating all things French so expect onion sellers, baguettes, street entertainment, craft market then in to the night with live music.



26th July - 28th September
Buckingham Palace Summer opening. Buckingham palace, SW1A 1AA
Greta chance to see inside Buckingham palace.

26th July

26th July – 23rd August.
Camden Beach. Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8EH.
A beach re-created in London with over 150 tonnes of Sand.




26th and 27th July
Walthamstow Garden Party. Lloyds Park, E17 4JF. 
Two-day event with live music, theatre, arts and crafts etc.
