Fujifilm have announced the new X30 premium compact toy replace the January 2013 X20 model.
The X30 offers a 12MP X-Trans 2/3" CMOS II sensor combined with Fuji's EXR Processor II.
The lens is a 28-112mm equivalent F/2-2.8 with manual zoom and the camera sports Hybrid Contrast and phase detection Autofocus plus a control ring around the lens that can be programmed for several different functions.
Two of the major upgrades are the increase in LCD screen size to a 3" tilting unit (up from fixed 2.8") and most impressively a 2.36m dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 100% coverage which should be a massive improvement over the previous optical viewfinder with 85% coverage.
Wi-Fi is now built in to the camera and there are ports fro external microphones and a wired remote.
Battery life has also been dramatically upgraded from an expected 270 shots for the X20 to 470 shots for the X30.
Fuji have also added a further film simulation "classic Chrome" for that Kodachrome look to images.
So, quite a substantial upgrade from the X20 overall, with the viewfinder and super fast AF being the main points of interest for the enthusiast photographer.
