Events in and around London to Photograph June 2015

June is a great month for available light photography with longer days as the sun lingers before setting.

There are many events and festivals you can visit in June and below we have highlighted some events especially suitable for photographers.

6th & 13th - Trooping The Colour - The Mall 10am -1pm

The Queens official birthday parade is on 13th June - but a top tip is to go on 6th when a full dress rehearsal take place. The crowds are a lot smaller and just like on the actual day you cannot gain entrance to Horseguards parade without a pre-booked ticket. You can however watch the parade from Buckingham Palace, all the way down the Mall to Horseguards Parade and photograph it on the way. Any lens from a wide zoom to a telecom will get you good shots. Zoom in to exclude the background and try some slow shutter speed panning on the marching soldiers or use a slower speed still and zoom your lens before during and after pressing the shutter release to get a zoom burst effect.

2nd-16th - Spitalfields Music Festival - Spitalfield

A two week long festival - centred around Spitalfields Market. Great chance to capture musicians and performers in action.

5th-7th - Polo in the Park - Hurlingham

Three day world series Polo event with plenty to photograph - the Polo, The celebrities attending and other events including Jousting!

6th June - 31st August Southbank Festival of Love - Southbank

The Southbank Festival of Love lasts for the whole summer and includes Art installations, exhibitions, street performances and market stalls. Plenty to photograph including a fantastic fountain installation and an urban beach by the river.

This event sees runners and walkers staring in White T-shirts being sprinkled with coloured paint at each kilometre of the 5 kilometre course - should be very colourful!
