Portrait Photography using the Nikon AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX lens

Once I found myself getting more into photography, I discovered I had a hidden talent for Portrait and Live music photography. I searched for hours scouring the internet looking for the perfect lens that was affordable and versatile. I decided upon the Nikon AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX (available from Park Cameras at under £1,050.00).

Once I’d purchased it, I was overjoyed by how sharp the images were and how good the autofocus was in low light situations. I had found the perfect lens.

When using this lens for outdoor portraits, the sweet spot is between f/2.8 if you want maximum bokeh and f/3.5 to f/5.6 if you want a nice sharp image.

I have also used this lens for studio portraits and have found that it performs best at aperture f/11 for studio work, giving ultimate sharpness and great detail.

This lens is arguably the best lens I have ever owned for a DX Camera and I totally recommend it at all costs.

The shots featured in this blog were taken using my AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX lens and Nikon D90.

You can see the 17-55mm and range of Nikon lenses in our stores in Burgess Hill, West Sussex and Central London. In both stores, you can touch and try them out for yourself. Alternatively visit www.ParkCameras.com.
