Report on Photo Walk 4 - Greenwich 31/5/14.

It was  my great pleasure to lead a great group of 17 photo walkers on around the historic Greenwich area. We were blessed again with a great day with sunshine and blue skies for most of the day and no rain!

Meeting at Cutty Sark station, we set off in to Greenwich market after some advice on camera settings and subjects to photograph.

The market was very colourful and busy with lovely light falling from the roof lights and surprisingly bright- so great for photography.

From there we moved in to Greenwich Park and headed on up to the Royal Observatory. Great views over London accompanied by some advice on composition, white balance and use of filters meant our group all got some great shots here too.

We then moved around the park heading back down the hill. On the way we met a particularly friendly and co-operative squirrel who willingly posed for our cameras!

Some very old trees and fungus growth also gave us some more interesting subjects and plenty of people shots available too.

We then moved in to the National Maritime Museum area and in to the beautiful Queens House with its stunning Tulip staircase and fantastic views across to the Old Royal Naval College.

Photo walkers took full advantage of the location with some great shots taken of the Tulip staircase particularly.

We then crossed over in to the Old Royal Naval College and moved through the beautiful Christopher Wren designed architecture to the amazing Painted Hall.

This provided a challenge for our cameras with the extreme contrast of light with the sun streaming through the windows to the relatively dark interior.

There was also an acting performance taking place which gave us more great photo opportunities.

From the Painted Hall, we moved down alongside the Thames and were able to get some views of the Royal Navy ship HMS Bulwark moored in Greenwich for the weekend before we arrived at the Cutty Sark.

This concluded the walk, with many of the walkers taking advantage then of the location and making a visit to the Cutty Sark or just getting a meal or drink at the many pubs and restaurants in the area.

Another successful walk and hopefully this blog will encourage you to join us on an up-coming walk. The next walk is on Photo Walk 5 on 28th June around colourful Camden Town (book HERE) followed by the final walk in the series  Photo Walk 6 around Westminster and the South Bank on the 5th July (Book HERE).  The the series starts again with Photo Walk One on the 26th July around Covent Garden and Soho (Book HERE).

Thanks to all the walkers for being such a great group and hope to see you all again on future walks!

A selection of pictures taken on the walk are shown below.
