Taking a look at the Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM – ideal for shooting hand held in low light

The Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM is a fast and reliable  lens that performs well in most situations, and is known for its fast aperture of f/2. It also has 4 stop Image Stabiliser which helps capture great shots in low light. Its ultra sonic motor additionally helps get fast and quiet autofocus.

I find this lens very useful on APS-C cameras such as the Canon EOS 7D and the Canon EOS 70D, as it gives field of view of 50mm which is good for portraits and general use.

On full frame cameras such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon EOS 6D it gives more of a wide field of view which is useful for landscapes and street photography.

I always found this lens to be my most used lens as it is a perfect ‘walk-around‘ lens. I mainly use mine for when shooting landscapes, portraits, indoors and at events. Once this lens is mounted onto your camera it opens a wide range of photographic opportunities.

In terms of its price it comes in at £469.00 which is a good price for a prime lens with image stablisation.

I would recommend this lens to anyone who is looking for a general purpose walk around lens at minimal cost.

You can see the Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM for yourself in either of our stores (based in Central London or Burgess Hill, West Sussex) or online at www.ParkCameras.com.

I have the non-IS version of this lens, it's a beauty. Like you say, once it's on your DSLR body, you'll not remove it in a hurry.
