Best selling camera equipment of 2019

As the year is drawing to a close we thought we would round up the best selling camera equipment of 2019… so far. Camera manufacturers are designing truly excellent products at the moment and seem to have really stepped up their game with 2019 releases. We have seen incredibly advanced new technology filtering into both camera and lens designs this year. There have also been a flurry of accessories appearing on the market including new camera bag designs, backpacks and more general yet essential photo accessories
The Best selling camera equipment of 2019

I had a hard time narrowing these down for this post as some of our favourite products are missing, however in the interest of impartiality this is what we’ve seen. Photographers are often on the lookout for innovations which will help them to learn more quickly, gain new perspectives as well as to refine their skills within chosen subject areas. Whether you are most interested in compact cameras for travel or underwater photography, powerful full-frame DSLR’s for wildlife, we explore Park Cameras biggest selling equipment of 2019 right now.

Best selling compact cameras

Compact cameras are as popular as ever, providing users with a small, easy to carry and often incredibly capable system. Most compacts offer very high quality images and video recording these days, making them perfect for holidays, travel and general photography where an interchangeable set-up might be too cumbersome. We have whittled these down to just three products despite there being so many excellent models available, so here are the top three of 2019:

The Leica Q2 was the most popular compact camera in 2019

Best Vlogging cameras

Vlogging for websites in particular Youtube has exploded in the last couple of years. We all love watching our favourite Youtubers antics as they explore subjects we’re interested in. Don’t forget our very own talented Gareth on our Park Cameras channel here with reviews and how to’s for everyone interested in photography. The essentials for vlogging are a flippable screen, great sound and useable footage, which might include video stabilisation. If you love the idea of making your own vlogs, here are the best sellers from 2019.

Best selling DSLR cameras of 2019

Contrary to popular belief DSLR’s are still selling well and for good reason. Digital SLR’s can still provide some of the quickest and most powerful systems for both enthusiasts and professionals. Sports, wildlife and landscape photographers often swear by their DSLR, particularly when their income depends on reliability, start-up times and easy file transfer to editors. So whether you are a beginner or pro, full-frame or APS-C user, here are the top DSLR’s sold during 2019.

Best selling mirrorless cameras

Mirrorless cameras are continuing to increase in popularity since the first releases just a handful of years ago. With a small compact size, easy access to high quality interchangeable lenses and a host of accessories available we can understand why. Despite manufacturers such as Panasonic, Olympus and Nikon producing exceptional mirrorless bodies, they were all beaten by the relentless popularity of Sony together with the new Leica release. The Leica was anticipated for so long it was destined for success. If you are new to mirrorless, you might want to read our post - the best mirrorless for beginners here and for Canon mirrorless users (one of our top five) here’s an excellent post about their new RF lenses.

The best lenses of the year

The Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 was the biggest selling lens of the year

Lenses are the most essential add-on for a camera system that you can buy. Having the right lens for the right subject is paramount and our top 2019 best selling lenses reflect the popularity with photographers who are expanding their systems. With new models coming from Sony and Leica this year it’s no surprise we are seeing these in our list. With a rise in popularity of certain subjects such as wildlife and sports we are also seeing longer telephoto lenses on the rise. Put this together with the affordability and improvements in optics technology, with aspherical and coated glass particularly from third party manufacturers and we can see 2019's picture perfectly!

Best action cameras from 2019

Many of our customers love action cameras and here are our biggest sellers for 2019. Action cameras are ideal for holidays, sports and travel thanks to compact size, waterproof qualities as well as the ability to record high quality 4K+ video and even 360 videos now. So all us photographers need to lug our gear around somehow, whether for travels using rollers, hiking backpacks or everyday camera bags are generally a must. Here are our top selling bags this year.

Most popular tripods and gimbals

DJI Ronin-S Essentials Kit was number one in tripods and gimbals

A tripod is not for everyone who loves photography, however support can be incredibly useful for outdoor work and travellers, including landscape and architectural photographers. If you work within product photography or in a studio, the chances are you’ll also find yourself needing a camera or lighting support at some time. With vloggers and the rise in popularity of video, we’ve seen the use of gimbals increase and these are included here as well. So without further ado here are our best selling tripods and gimbals so far.

Top selling accessories

Photography is one of the best hobbies for those of us who love accessorising. From essentials such as memory cards and batteries to ‘I simply must have’ camera accessories such as drones and pen tablets, there really is something for everyone. Every manufacturer including third party companies are making some superb offerings, however, we’ve stuck exclusively to the best sellers.

The best accessory for 2019 the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16

Photography spans a huge range of equipment as we know, so I put together these special mentions which don’t fall into the more mainstream categories. Medium format is nowhere near as popular as other types of camera system, in no small part dues to costs. However with the launch of exciting new bodies such as the groundbreaking Fujifilm, we have seen a rise in sales this year. Video is also becoming increasingly popular and we see several video cameras and associated accessories popping up in our list, with microphones and other video-specific accessories gaining demand.

With 100MP its no surprise the Fujifilm GFX100 was best selling medium format camera

If I read that correctly, you guys sold more Em1x bodies than Fuji X-T3's or Em-1ii's ? Or are they excluded because they were 2018 releases?
