Panasonic Lumix S5 II-Series firmware update highlights

Panasonic’s flagship S5 II hybrid camera and video-centric S5 IIX receive important feature updates in version 2.00 and 3.00 firmware, including:

  • Video Proxy Recording – A Lumix first arrives as proxy video with a lower bit-rate can be recorded simultaneously during MOV (S511/SSIIX) or ProRes (SSIIX) recording. SD Slot 1 or SSD records the original video as MOV, ProRed (S5 IIX), or C4K, 4K or FullHD, while Slot 2 records MOV, FullHD, 4-16Mbps, using the same file names as the original files.
  • frame.io connectivity – A new feature Adobe camera to cloud enables photos and proxy videos to be directly uploaded to the Frame.io platform from the camera via a Wi-Fi or USB Tethering. Upload-able files include Proxy video, JPEG and RAW photos.
  • Pre-Burst Shooting – Another new feature SH Pre-burst recording can begin shooting up to 1.5 seconds before the shutter is released, so you never miss a moment.
  • Enhanced and new AF capabilities – Use of new Al-powered technology for real-time autofocus recognition that now recognises cars, motorcycles, and animal eyes for improved precision in subject recognition. Human Eye/Face/Body is also improved, with more accurate human body recognition in scenes with several people without the AF frame moving to other subjects.
  • Improved E.I.S. Performance – A new feature introduces [HIGH] mode for E-Stabilisation (Video), which corrects perspective distortion that occurs during video shooting, a phenomenon in which straight lines appear distorted caused by perspective. Corrects even GREATER MOVEMENT such as running situations.
